Sallent Industries is proud to introduce our new Maple Syrup based lubrication agent, good for those squeaky doors, stubborn windows, and noisy gears. It is also Canadian mint-worker approved as good for safely storing gold coins in dark and hard to reach places.
there's another thread about this from the other day ==> https://www.cointalk.com/threads/ca...-smuggling-180k-of-gold-in-his-rectum.284130/
LOL... "Court was told that, on multiple occasions, Lawrence took small circular chunks of gold — a cookie-sized nugget called a “puck” — to Ottawa Gold Buyers in the Westgate Shopping Centre on Carling Avenue. Typically, the pucks weighed about 210 grams, or 7.4 ounces, for which he was given cheques in the $6,800 range, depending on fluctuating gold prices, court heard. He then deposited the cheques at the Royal Bank in the same mall." Holy Cow! THAT much weight stuffed into the dark nether regions of the homan body??? My biggest coin is 95g and it fills the palm of my HAND! I know that @rrdenarius and @ancientcoinguru has some Roman Aes Signatum around or over that weight... THAT IS HUGE!!! And did not "partake" but once, but SEVERAL times to pull $180k in inventory!!! RR 280-276 BCE Anon Aes Grave Triens Thunderbolt-Dolphin Rome Rev-IN HAND Crawford 14-3 Thurlow Vecchi 95g That stolen gold "puck" is over twice the size!
Gawd, thanks for creating this thread!! ... cheers, coin-brother!! Coincidentally, I worked at that Winnipeg mint and I actually trained that employee ... it's a small world, eh? Unbelievably, I was chosen to lead the investigation ... I know, what a small world!! Yah, initially Jimmy was a solid worker, dedicated to his craft and was one of the high-fliers on the production floor ("he was a real go-to guy" stated Moses, a co-worker) "Yah, but one day Jimmy just snapped" stated co-worker Sally ... "I mean snapped!!" => "He started making coins that looked like this!!" We all said that he'd get in trouble, but Jimmy insisted that => "this is the best shape ... and this is the shape that's gonna set me free!!"
No, not honestly ... but I have gone on a few tours of the ol' plant => yup, the machine beeps if you have metal in your bum!!
#1 210 g of gold is 6.8 oz Troy. At the density of gold (this stuff is dense) that would only be about 11 ml...about the size of your middle finger.
I understand TOZ vs avoirdupois, I was only using approximates. I understand Gold as I enjoy it... When I stack 7 1-TOZ AGE's, or 7 1-TOZ Maple Leaves, or 7 1-TOZ Kruegerrands, it is a bit more than my middle finger...
You had me going for a second on this one. I was wondering why, if you were living in Winnipeg, you didn't invite me down for a beer.
LOL @Ken Dorney , didn't you see the Oinkus Scatacus oblong coin? and the Oinkus pelletus coin that Steve put out there? That was a dead give-away they were produced at the Winnipeg Puck Mint... LOL, Dude that went flying over your head!
Since I calculated the volume, instead of doing anything more with the weight, I compared it to a 10 mL graduated cylinder. Most of the ones I see are somewhat longer than my middle finger, but more slender, I can calculate what a cylinder of a finger diameter would be if you want.
