I recently pulled this 2017a $1 bill from circulation. It looks like the bill folded in half right after printing while the ink was fresh, and imprinted the details inside the fold. The only problem is that there isn’t a complete fold crease that lines up with the imprint. The double printed serial matches, so the imprint is from the same bill. Is this an actual error or just an after production mishap?
Nice! Not worth much more than face value. Believe this is an Ink smear. don't quote me on this though as I'm not an expert
Ink smear is about right, even if this had an error on it the condition is pretty poor collectors look for premier examples and this falls short of that.
I don’t consider it an error. It looks like some of the ink transferred from one side to another after being folded under pressure.
I don’t know if I should piggy back off of this thread or start a new one, but I have another error question for anyone interested. It looks like during the serial number printing extra marks were added to the bill. I’ve read about this somewhere in the past but cannot find where, is this a recognized error?
