BALONEY. YOU STATED ON ANOTHER THREAD THAT THE COINS WERE STICKERED...MEANING GREEN OR GOLD....WHICH MAKES THEM LEGACY COINS THAT DID NOT CROSS OVER. NOW YOU CONVENIENTLY LEAVE OUT THE WORD "STICKER". WHICH IS IT?
You must have misunderstood. These were unstickered PCGS slabs; PF IHCs. As I’ve said I’ve had around a hundred PCGS/NCG stickered and these shall remain so not to spend extra money on getting the new CACG slabs.
I did have a Kennedy taken right from a proof set that was submitted to CACG. It was slabbed PF67. IMO bullion from CACG may receive a 68 vs 69 from PCGS or 70 from NGC.
Ok Charley you’re the smartest person in the room. I hope you have a better day. My sticker rate is 38% just off the 40% average. I submit what I believe are quality coins. Crossovers I admit I have not done well with. Guess I’m not smart enough to know these should not have been submitted. You are the only person so passionate about a members sharing of a negative experience. I could tell you that you are a great person and you would say, “ Baloney.”
This isn’t unique to CACG. Ask how many NGC coins have failed to cross with PCGS. Or what the failure rate is in regards to NGC and PCGS receiving CAC stickers. I’ve had numerous failures in both scenarios. I’ve also had numerous results that ended with great success. It sounds to me you tried crossing with a specific grade in mind rather than cross at any grade. 6 for 6 is a small sample size. With 100 stickered slabs already why did you decide to cross 6 non stickered coins knowing CACG grades more conservative?
I know this won’t make you feel any better, but I’ve had lousy luck getting stickers for my Indian cents also. Out of the 11 I’ve sent in for stickers only 2 have passed. These are all PCGS, 8 MS and 3 proofs. From what I see from what I’ve sent in is they don’t care much for toning. Only the 1897 and 1904 received beans.
Bought my first one, Hooray! Seated "No Drapery" Quarter. I like this quite a bit, has the CircCam look I love, and the contrast shows off the lack of drapery very nicely. CAC slab photos make the obverse look a little darker than reality. (I think they use the Black font to set the black point, which likely gives it a deeper black look). I still don't quite love the "hand feel" of the CACG slabs. Sharp and rough in places. But clarity is very good. I am oddly bothered by what I consider a squished left-to-right CAC bean, making the middle look fat. I wish it looks exactly like the applied bean. But literally no one besides me would notice or care. Interesting little detail, clearly shown in the seller photos, is that there is a white spec obverse, left side of shield. I thought (hoped) it was on the slab, but of course my luck, it's on the coin. Now that I look, I can also see that white fleck on the CAC photos. Not the eBay sellers fault at all, but this exact same thing happened a few months ago with PCGS, and customer service with them has not gone well, so its a major sore spot for me right now. For now, I am done with PCGS and moving to CACG, and this purchase was for the coin itself, as I need it for my Type Set, but also as a ice-breaker for me to get warmed up the CACG slabs. I am not happy to see this white plastic snowflakes showing up inside the slab, on the face of the coins, and adhered well enough to not shake free. Been hit with this identical issue, two grading companies, one submitted by me, one purchased off eBay. And I am neurotic enough to care? Just my luck.... Overall, I am fine with the Slab and I will be buying more CACG coins.
I still have yet to get a CAC holder coin though I have several "Green Beans" from PCGS here's is my latest
Right now prices on them are too high because of speculation of how valuable the plastic they're in makes them. I place zero value on the piece of plastic a coin resides in over the value of the coin (and to be honest, mostly prefer raw coins anyway). So no. If the prices of such drop to the value of the coins inside I don't permanently rule it out. In general more competition in any market is a good thing, but not if someone entering the market just dethrones who's already there. I certainly don't think they're bad at grading or anything, but I'm not paying a cent more for a coin in one of their slabs than I'd pay for that same coin out of it.
In what way, LD ? Are they taking down MS coins to the AU bucket on surface alterations or wear/rub ?
CACG slab box for anyone who has not seen one yet. Slightly taller and quite a bit longer than NGC and PCGS slab boxes. Finally a slab box that holds every type of slab. (Except maybe rattler and old small anacs). Above you see a CACG slab, NGC "fatty" holder, current NGC holder, and a current PCGS holder.
