Oh and you heard it here first. Gold will NEVER be more than $2k an ounce! Never. Markus said so.

Because it's a coin site where we discuss coins which includes the merits and how they are offered for moderns?

A special offering like that yes they generally do sell out first day.

Sorry baseball, but I wouldn't call what I've seen here civilly discussing the merits of anything. Seems more like very insecure people desperate to ridicule and see someone else/some entity fail ( if you want to call purchasing a 24k gold anniversary coin intended for a collection a failure). We're supposed to be led to believe that anybody who bought one is just a total idiot because of "fill in the blank".

If somebody down the road is willing to sell one for less than what the issue price was I think that's great for buyers. I myself, have no ill will towards fellow collectors. Hope everybody gets one dirt cheap but you won't see mine for sale. When gold goes well past $2k an ounce in the future, I'll come back here for a laugh. We're lucky gold is as cheap as it is.

The dimes sold out in about 20 minutes. I am sure the Quarters would have sold out in the first day if it was 10 per household. The fact that there is only one per household prevents flippers and the like from buying up all of the stock.

Mint lifted the ban of one per household.

Oh really I did not hear about that. I just got my Standing liberty Quarter last night. It looks better than I expected. It has a much better strike the the Mercury I received. I ordered a second one now.It is a Beautiful coin.

It appears a bit smaller than the silver counterpart.

It is a quarter ounce of gold and it is slightly smaller. I no longer have a standing liberty silver quarter to show you a comparison.

Who cares? I may eat those words in fifty years, but I trust I won't be around to do so. And if I am? How pathetic........really old dude........

Can always count on one person to defend obnoxious stupidity on a forum.

Although hard to believe, there are people that want nothing to do with the Internet and having to make an account at usmint.gov and registration is beyond them. This sometimes includes the older generations of people who came from a time before T.V., computers, and hi-technology. This is by no means a hit on these individuals but it is the truth. They choose to bid on these Gold Standing Liberty coins on E-bay and other sites instead of getting one on the web site because of the headache of what I described at the beginning of this post. It is sad but sometimes they pay way over the cost on the website. JMHO

I could not agree with you more....there are some (you know what there are many people) here that have a God-like mentality and are elitist. The whine and whine and complain and complain for EVERYTHING!!!! I think that you are right...maybe it is time to look for another forum. Kudos in expressing you thoughts; trust me it is shared by many!!! ;)

Thanks, I needed to hear that. Too much complaining, nice of the mint to make these coins, although they could have also made a more affordable silver option.
