First Spouse coins available to order

i think if you look long-term, imagine in fifty years you see a 2005 coin graded First Strike ms70. You will know that coin was graded in the first month of its release and not cracked out twenty times to get the grade. It will not have been dipped or cleaned, it will have no foreign substance on it.

That is why long-term I like the First Strike coins and why I think they will hold the extra value. I wouldn't have a problem with them changing the term First Strike but either way I think the first strike label will be valuable down the road.

And just look at how hard it is to get these spouse coins in a first strike holder. My earliest order is already backed out beyond the first strike deadline so the ones in those holders are already special. I want my coins in a first strike holder and can't get it, once you miss the deadline unless it was shipped earlier then you have no chance left.

And yes there are modern coins dipped and cleaned to make slabs, it happens already so it will only get worse as the years go by. But the first strike coins can't be taken out and messed with.

Is the term First Strike misleading, maybe, but the benefit of the slab to me outweighs the words, and people are paying more for them and I think rightly so. Eventually they will be seen as limited early gradings like they are.

I do think I like this series and think it's really just a PC attempt by the Mint to make even more than they are making. But with that said, it's the unpopular coins that end up the winners since no one cares and no one buys them. I am still unsure about these gold coins as the President $1 series is going to be a s chaotic as any series. We have only made it through the first 2 and already there are 4 different errors and 2 different varieties per coin. I think the Mint either planned this one or some Congressional oversight committee got involved to ensure quality control for the Mint. Call me crazy, no, really.

Just wait, it's going to get more interesting. The House of Representatives just voted to remove all the edge lettering from Presidential Dollars. They haven't specified yet whether everything will be moved to the surfaces of the coins.

 

It got appoved??? Or is this the same thing on the cover on coinworld (which had not yet passed into law)

 

That's what I'm referring to. It was approved by the house but hasn't yet become law. I bet it will become law.

 

My backorder date is now pushed to 7/20 for AA. My MW shipped 7/6!!!!!!

 

The latest I can figure is the Mint is still working on orders from around 12:30 or so {order numbers 25427xxx and higher} so they are filling these very slowly. From the orders I have I am guess they have gone through and put backorder dates on coins that they expect to ship [such as August or even September fill dates] but the ones that are showing July and were ordered well after 2:00 I doubt will ever get filled. Just a guess on my part, only time will tell.....

That was the time stamp by the mint, I think they used EST. Anyway that is just a guess, but I think any order a few hours after they started selling that still shows a ship date for this month may never get filled. Hopefully I am wrong though as two of my orders are like that.

 

I've heard of people getting orders from the mint where the Mint's website does not accurately reflect that their order shipped.

So imagine my surprise when I get home yesterday and there's a package waiting for me from teh Mint. About the same size as you would expect for these First Spouse Gold Coins.

I'll tell you, this US Mint is really on the ball.

 

I still believe my order was early, clocked in at 12:32. I got MW but AA now pushed back to 8/1 !!!

 

Looks like these are finally starting to ship again, I think they are now up to about order number 25428XXX if anyone is still waiting like I am.
