Thanks to all the members here who responded kindly to my threads and posts. I have enjoyed this forum very much. Now here is my favorite coin of the moment. Please feel free to post you favorite coin of the day.
I have been crazy about this Trajan tet for 3 weeks straight. And it does have a Hispania connection...Trajan. Congrats on 1000 posts
Congrats on your 1000th yak! I always enjoy your comments and postings. My newest capture from yesterday: I had not Carthage Dishekels Zeugitania, Carthage. After 241 B.C. Æ dishekel (27 mm, 10.81 g, 12 h). Obv: Wreathed head of Tanit left Rev: Horse standing right; in background, palm tree. Ref: MAA 45; SNG Copenhagen 253. Comments: Scarce issue. Dark brown-green patina with scattered deposits. Good fine. This coinage appears to have been struck in the aftermath of the First Punic War (264-241 B.C.), when Carthage faced a serious revolt of its mercenary forces. This conflict, known as the Truceless War (240-238 B.C.), resulted in the rise of Hamilcar Barca to prominence and provided a Roman for intervening in Sardinia. Hamilcar's son, Hannibal, would later raise the banner of war and come close to destroying Rome in the Second Punic War (218-201 B.C.)

Congrats! It's been nice having you around for the last 1,000 posts . Oh, and that's an excellent Galba! My coin of the moment, also struck in Spain... Congrats on 1k! Here's my coin of the moment, a "staff" series victoriatus from Etruria: It came in Saturday morning and I had it for about 24h before sending it across the country to be professionally cleaned. Hopefully in a few weeks I'll be able to share the "after" pics.
Congrats on your milestone!!! Great posts everyone!!! Well, one of my most recent wins and already a favorite is not of HISPANIA, but just across the straits of Gibraltar; Septimius Severus with the 'Africa Reclining' reverse, RIC 254....and a cool scorpion with a 'modius' as well
Congrats Orfew, I have a denarius to compliment your Galba that was minted around the same time. Vitellius 69 AD, Concordia seated left, 18mm, 2.63gm RIC 1, 90.

My coin of the moment: Pantikipaeum (in Crimea, now Russia, formerly Ukraine) Beaded satyr right, formerly called Pan (for the city name) [and it still may be Pan] protome of eagle-headed griffin left, surgeon below, Π A N around (the first letters of the city name) 21 mm. 6.63 grams. Struck c. 310-304 BC. MacDonald 69. Sear Greek 1700. Anokhin 111 Weber 2693, McClean 4453. What artwork!
Those vary a lot in artwork. This one has an exceptional sturgeon. I bid on one not long ago for that exact reason but did not get it. Congratulations!
I have had 'My Favorite Coin' as a matter of public record for years and am not ready to abandon it after only 53 years but, today, the coin that speaks to me most is another Eastern Septimius: Septimius Severus AR denarius Alexandria mint Venus reverse I got this from the great Kelly sale of Septimius coins in 1997. BMCRE V page 84 * notes that there is a note in the BM that this exists but dismisses it as a hybrid. RIC copies this opinion but neither shows any evidence of having seen a coin or states were the note originated. I would like 'the rest of the story'. It was listed in Akerman in 1834 but not in Cohen. There are not many others. Any?
Congratulations on your 1000th celebration! I'm counting on you being here for another thousand. I appreciate your excellent advice!
