I just received this in the mail today and know a little bit. It is Eros (Cupid) and the headdress of Isis (Aset) the mythology that is associated with this coin is fascinating. I also know from the auction it was minted around the 130's BC. I may get hooked on these things who would've thought you could own something 2000+ years old for less than a movie ticket. That's crazy.
Uhm, "Make Egypt Great Again"? No, I don't read Greek, but it is a beautiful coin. That was a nice find.
ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΝΤΙΟΧOY ΕΥΕΡΓΕΤΟΥ ["of King Antiochos Euergetes"], Headdress of Isis, monogram to left; EOP [date; Seleukid year 179 (134/3 BCE)] below ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ is almost entirely off the flan and ANTIOXOY is partially legible.
It appears to be a bronze of Antiochus VII, Seleukid Kingdom, 138-129 BC: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=2404666
Thanks for yalls help and feel free to post any info or links you might have. I hope when the grand babies get a little older I can share all this with them
Sounds like you got a decent deal. From parthia.com -> The Seleucid Era (S.E.) is based on a lunar calendar, beginning with the autumn of 312 B.C. Calculate Seleucid Era dates as follows: If the Seleucid year is 312 or less, subtract it from 313 to get the date B.C. This will give the year beginning in October. Example: ΒΙΤ = 312 Seleucid Era, which subtracted from 313 leaves 1, corresponding to 1 B.C./A.D. 1 (from October of 1 B.C. through September of A.D. 1). There is no year 0, of course If the Seleucid year is 313 or more, subtract 312 from it to get the date A.D. This will give the year beginning in October. Example: ΓΙΤ = 313 Seleucid Era, from which subtract 312, leaving 1, corresponding to A.D. 1/2 (from October of A.D. 1 through September of A.D. 2) Example: ΔΞΥ = 464 Seleucid Era, from which subtract 312, leaving 152, corresponding to A.D. 152/153(from October of A.D. 152 through September of A.D. 153) Looks like yours would be 138/137 however I don't have access to my books at the moment. These are marvelous types because they demonstrate the intersection of Greek and Egyptian mythologies in the Levant. Here's mine...

Congrats on that very cool OP-score, MKent Ummm, I don't have an example of Antiocos VII, but I do have examples that sandwich him ... wanna see 'em? Antiochos VI 145-142 BC Dionysos & Elephant Antiochos VIII 125-121 BC Antiochos VIII & Owl
That elephant is a cool ancient. I've never seen one with an elephant. Is it supposed to a battle elephant like the ones I've heard about being used in wars? Also it resembles a bottle cap. I really like it may have to put that on the list if they aren't real expensive.
