Hey all, been a while since I updated this partly because I didn't have time to work on my project. Anyway I've made progress and have a few pictures to share. So with the foam down in all 5 drawers I was trying to decide how to deal with airflow. The more airflow the better but also I want the cabinet to look ok. I ultimately put the cabinet on the drill press and used a hole saw to make some evenly spaced holes in the back. Next step was to apply 3 generous layers of shellac on all the drawers. I could have done a better job with this but honestly wasn't super concerned with it. If I sanded a bit between coats it would have been more even but the face of the drawers came out ok which was the most important part. The drawers sat for a week, providing plenty of time for the alcohol to evaporate. Then today I figured out how to cut the velvet and get that stuck down. I've got 1 drawer done and the results are acceptable. I'm not great at this sort of thing anyway so based on that I'm happy with how it came out. So next will be to get the velvet down on the rest of the drawers then I still need to shellac the box itself. Hopefully will have this wrapped up soon!
