New $20 note to mark S'pore-Brunei currency link

Derrick,would you be happy to pick up some of the commemorative notes for some of the members here? I would certainly be more than happy to buy 1 single one of the Singaporean one for my collection,plus 1 single one of the Bruneian $20,that is,if you can get it.

This would have to be the first plastic $20 from Singapore.I'm not sure if Brunei has had a plastic $20 prior to this one.

Mavin Auction on 7 July 2007

Just came back from the morning session Mavin Auction.

A pair of Singapore-Brunei $20 40th year Commemorative notes SGD 000001 and BND 000001 sold for US$114,000 excluding buyer's commission and GST.

Another record prices for one set of Singapore $20 OAB 111111 to 999999, 000001.... ( 24 pcs ) went for US$68,000 excluding buyer's commission and GST.

It is probably due to Singapore economy is doing very well.More excess cash for auction.

 

I was bididng on those auctions as well but the prices were way out of line instead of 100 bucks it was in thousands

 

It's unfortunate. The prices have all gone many times of the estimated prices. Not a good news for those who bid for the notes. :headbang:

I manage to win two notes at horrible high prices. :headbang:

 

You are probably one of those guys who out bid me since i lost all my 55 auctions

 

What were you bidding then ? I don't bid many of them. I only bid what is important for my main collection. There are many minor ones I decided to give it up since the prices have all gone up many times.

 

oh basically i was just trying to get a set but i lost on each andeveryone of those

 

What sort of prices did the sets realise? it sounds as though it was a very high value auction overall.
