Help in grading silver $ coins 1900(S)!

Discussion in 'US Coins Forum' started by BeauCoinCollect, Jul 6, 2007.

  1. Need help in grading some RAW coins. I’ve been collecting coins for the past year and getting close to completing a couple of sets. I only need (13) Morgan’s and (1) Peace dollar to complete these sets. Also, I have a complete set of the Eisenhower, Susan B. Anthony, Sacagawea, American Eagles and the American Eagles Proof sets.

Please give your grade opinion on the following 1900-S:

    Greetings, I would say it's a dipped MS-63.

Looks to me to be MS62. Perhaps dipped, but looks like it should still be able to grade.

I don't see the dip, but MS-62 probably, because of the marks on the cheek.

I'd say 63. Ive seen some slabbed 63 that looked worse, and it looks like a good strike.

Based on the pic provided the coin would be considered damaged and ungradeable by ANA standards. If it were not for the large scratch on the cheek, then I would say MS63.

The obverse has a lot of scratches. I can't see it more that a 61

Its a great strike though with nice detail in the hair.

The scrape on the cheek is pretty significant, and as such cannot be graded. As GDJMSP mentioned, the scrape would be considered damage :(

I don't know, it would seem to be a bag mark, and still gradable. (if that is a word).

  12. Thanks for everyone’s commits. Need your grade opinions on other RAW coin’s I have. How should I post them all at once or one at a time? I have about 30 more coins I believe are in the AU or MS range.

I'd say 1 at a time, to avoid confusion on commentary.

    I would say and MS-63. I have seen worse with a MS-63.
