I also picked up this fairly nice McAlee 115b of Zeus and lighted altar w/garland dichalkon (no dot) variety. My intentions are to build an Antioch Civic Issue denomination set. But I am finding it a bit difficult because of all the weight changes that occurred in Antioch! Here's the auction image. Here's after Goof Off and Ren. wax using the microscope camera. Yes I lost a little constranct but honestly I don't think it bad at all.
Do the weights represent different denominations? Antioch Year 117/ 68 AD AE 19 Obvs: ANTIOX EΩN, Head of Zeus laureate. Revs: ЄTZIP, Lighted alter garlanded. 19mm, 6.72g Ref: BMC 20.162.92
@david. That's a nice example too. The weight system in Antioch went through several different revisions. It is my understanding that the ET is a marking for dichalkon denomination. The ZIP is the Greek year. The patina is a dark olive green.
