Need Expert Help is this PMD 197? DIME

    I really cant tell if this is PMD I was hoping a expert could help on this one.

    Definite impact damage, along with heavy wear from friction. That poor thing. :(

    See how the metal is dented inward from the edge, and pushed up? That can't happen during striking. If it were a "clipped" coin, where a notch was taken out of the planchet before it was struck, you wouldn't see the metal pushed up like that.

    Looks like it may have been exposed to heat or a chemical. Near the date, the clad layers seem to be receding.

    I guess what threw me off, is the fact that the outer edge on the coin wasnt to badly damaged. So I couldn't figure out what or how the damage was caused. Thank for your help.
