well I went through my collection today only to find a number of unopened boxes from the mint. Is there anyway to find out what they are without opening them? I know they are UNC sets, but the year i do not know.

Typically on the cardboard that mint and proof sets are sent is a code. It is right above the middle of the barcode. I just checked some 06 mint sets that I had. It says U06 and that means it is a 2006 Uncirculated Mint Set.

You could try matching the shipment number to your order history on the US Mint web site.

I think it's because it's more valuble in the US. mint packaging.

Know what I do? I put the number into the Ebay coins search and I almost always get a hit. Try it, bet it works for you:p
