I read that they might be cancelling them but they are last in line so I don't see why they would bother. I would hope the mint is filling the early orders and once those are done to the maximum mintage then cancel the rest. At the current pace they are only filling two mintues worth of orders per day so it may take a month to get them all done if we are lucky.

spouse gold i think the average for gold spouses went up again to around $700.00 plus. long term still good. it might hit $800.00 or more.
I will buy some of the next First Spouse coins but IMO the first ones and the ones to follow will not stay at a high price for the long term. For the price they are asking 700.00 you can buy some real nice old coins that will only go up

Greetings from the United States Mint. The following order has been cancelled either at your request or because we were unable to process it. I see on my other orders they have stalled back the first two coins to Expected to ship on 08/17/2007 and Expected to ship on 09/04/2007. The last ones haven't been adjusted but I am thinking I may not see them for a very long time. And I had hoped to get first strike for these, looks like no chance for that now.
Thank g-d. Now we can get onto the discussion of coins! Sorry to everyone that purchased them, but (and I hope that you all make a ton of money on them) these mint products are simply a way to scam the collectors. So, I am sticking to traditional collector coins, and staying away from the new stuff. Again, I hope that you all make money on these mint products, but, when (to semi-quote Coin World) it takes about $22,000 (or thereabouts) to buy all of the new mint products, it can't be anything but a scam.
There is no such thing as first strike when th total mintage is 40k and the mint itself cant tell you which ones were first strike its just a scam for TPG to make even more money
I can see your side of it, but I also think that First Strike is worth something as you are getting a coin that was graded just after its release. So it wasn't dipped, cleaned, or altered and is worth a little more. When you see a first strke holder you know that is what graded shortly after it was released and was only graded once. For that it is worth it for me to pay them to add that label and so I do it when I can.
I read that NGC has announced there will not be an "early release" designation for First Spouse coins. I hope that we'll never see any grading service call anything "first strike" again.
NGC and PCGS were both sued http://coins.about.com/b/a/000059.htm over the First Strike PCGS's web site does indicate that they are still engaging in this fraudulent practice http://www.pcgs.com/customer_service_update.chtml. Based on Ebay listings, buyers are still willing to pay extra a coin that is just "First Strike eligible". This listing closed for $910. 2007 Martha Washington First Spouse $10 Gold Proof Coin</IMG>
If you remember from last year, NGC did not certify any of the gold anniversary sets as First Strikes because of the 10k mintage, all were considered First strikes at least by them. Was glad to see it. I am sure it cost them some business from those who wanted a first stike designation.
2007 FIRST SPOUSE GLD UNC (MW) 1 $410.95 $410.95 1 unit backordered. Expected to ship on 07/21/2007. 2007 FIRST SPOUSE GLD UNC (AA) 1 $410.95 $410.95 1 unit backordered. Expected to ship on 09/04/2007 completely unacceptable.
any coin that is graded in the series isnt dipped cleaned or altered if it is rated by the top 3 otherwise why go to them in the first place if they cant verify that. The term first strike is misleading and if TPG's continue to use it they will get sued again and lose whatever respecatability they have left
One doesn't have to use the fraudulent and deceptive term "First Strikes" to certify that a coin hasn't been dipped, cleaned or altered.
