Welcome to the CRH Forum. Good luck with the box of Halves. I never hunted in casinos but I'm sure some here have.

Wait.. are you opening up rolls and looking through them.. or are you rolling them up? That doesn't sound to exciting o_O

I've only gone through one box of halves, and was skunked. But I did get 26 or 28 loose halves from the counter, within which were around 5 40%s and 1 90%.

As for any other coin, I've found a total of like 4 war nickels in thousands of rolls, and no silver anything else at all.

Halves seem to be the best bet.

I got a box from Chase last week it had 1 40% and 22 Proofs mostly from the 70's. I've got two coming tomorrow so I'm hoping or more silver. A couple years age I got a box that had 48 silvers then 3 skunks LOL

First, welcome to the neighborhood, Eric @Vegas Rookie !

You're not likely to find any silver in the casinos, and most of the other coins get pretty beat-up.

    Keep any 2002-present, and 1987s.

That is actually not a bad run, about average from my Loomis Box searches. 1-40% per $125 is pretty good. 90s will be rare unless you hit a collection dump.

Me too lately... I've found 7 silver dimes the past 8 days of hunting... I had found 8 total in the previous 6 1/2 months.

4 40%ers is not bad at all... I'd take that any day of the week... and don't be expecting to find many 1987s. Yes, they're out there, but not in the quantities of the 2002-2016 NIFCs. I have found one (a 1987-D) in approximately 15,000 halves searched to date.

If you can find a really nice coin from 1982 or 1983 (along with the aforementioned 1987, and 2002-date NIFC coins), definitely keep it. The mint did not make mint sets that year, so finding these coins in Uncirculated condition can be a challenge. Also, there is a 1982-P "NO FG" coin which is worth keeping, along with the 1974-D with the motto doubled.

Gonna give a few local casinos a go tomorrow morning since they tend to have a older crowd that attends them and maybe find a diamond in the rough. I dumped my $500 halves between 3 banks and picked up some more halve wrappers. Gonna give a few other denominationsa try this week also. Thank you again for all the input and tips fellas....

I did have a few 1982 and 1983 but dumped already. I kept the best condition coin of every year i found which was 1971-2001 minus the 1987
