I have been trying to improve my photos. I added a second light source to help soften the main light but still show details. Please provide any thoughts you care to share. First, I got some large cents recently: This is an 1846 Small Date and it is the poorest quality coin of the three that I just received - but I am enjoying how even the lower grades of EAC look. With this one, I reversed the light source direction on the obverse because the slight discoloration behind the portrait kept getting drowned out by the light. I like the effect when combined with the reverse. What do you think? Here is the last Large Cent. I also got a Peace dollar. For the silver, I thought the light was too strong. Thanks for the feedback - I am learning a lot from this forum.
Exceptionally well done! The Peace dollar is a bit bright but shows detail quite well. I like them all, keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing.
Looks good. Try a white background and compare. It's fun to try different lighting and background to get the results you want.
Have a setup where you can tilt the coin to catch the light just right or continually adjust your lights. Also don't be afraid to use an editing program. Use a solid light colored background and later use something like bucket fill to clear the background.
The photos of the 1852 cent look a tiny bit shadowy, but are certainly adequate- and as good as if not better than any I could do. Like you, I have difficulties with lighting sometimes. The rest of the photos look pretty good to me.
