Yep, I did it. Finally decided to join the ANA. I'll say initially, I was hesitant. Not sure how much of a value it would be for me. However, I wanted to expand a little on my numismatic knowledge base, and I have to say, overall in the last month I am pleased. I enjoy having the Numismatist online for my viewing, but look forward to having my tangible copy. I know, at 38, I should enjoy more tech saviness for magazine material, but it is just difficult for me to read it without having it in my hand. Other things like the Reading Room Exclusives and News and Notes are nice just as a time waster...good to have a good 3-5 minute read for waiting rooms or when the wife watches her shows. I really like the format of the ANA Coin Press Blog. That writing style is more informal and I like the topics they reach toward. I want to explore how the library lending program works. I would love to get my hands on a couple of older Cherry Picker's Guides or even series guides that are just a little pricey on Amazon, but not sure how to look them up yet or how to get the lending started. I know they have some educational video series, podcasts and seminars and want to try those in the year to come as well. As for the website, I am pleasantly surprised how easy it is to navigate. I do not like the ap. I cannot find out where to log in, find all my tabs; just more confusing to navigate than beneficial. So, overall, I am glad I joined. I look forward to seeing the benefit and hopefully grow, if not a tad, in my hobby knowledge in the next year. Feel free to suggest items to look into or what to avoid in the comments below. Thanks for looking!
@dimeguy, I share your assessment. I also have found my membership in the ANA to be worthwhile. I found your comments on reading a hardcopy mirroring mine. I much prefer reading a magazine or book in hand than reading a digital form.
Email the library - the address is on the site, money.org (I think it's library@, but check) - good people to work with.
Welcome aboard!!! lots of real good info at the ANA and the newsletter is pretty cool too.. though I do miss not needing a membership to submit to NGC (Used to be included as part of the ANA membership)
I have my grandson signed up with the ANA. I swipe the magazines they send and enjoy the read…. I tried last month to create my own membership but couldn’t because I used my email to sign up my grandson. Still trying to figure out a way around that.
I've been a member for a few years now and enjoy it. They have recorded numismatic talks you can watch on a variety of topics as well. You can also look at the various holdings they have which are interesting.
Been a member for years. Have definitely acquired interest outside my US coin interest too. Been actually thinking of upgrading to life member. But if I wait 2 years it's cheaper
I did it 25y ago when I received my 25y medallion but the break is a significant difference if you've ridden the horse that long.
I have been a member for many years to keep my Hugh Wood insurance. Not much time to enjoy the rest of what they offer.
