So I received the coin today and now I know what people mean when they say the coin is much better than the photo. The seller's photo was fine, but I had to try to take my own. The reverse on this coin has iridescent toning. There is a bit of blue to green toning and some orange to red. This is the first coin of mine that has such toning. The coin is also larger than the description. the description reported a diameter of 19.0 mm. My measurement was 21.41 mm. A really nice large flan. Anyway, I just wanted to share my impressions now that I have it in hand. I love it when a seller undersells a coin. The actual color of the coin is much closer to that of my photo. The toning is lovely. Seller's photo My photo
I'm glad to see the coin arrived safe and sound. It is certainly one of the better examples of the type I've ever seen.
Thanks David, I was thinking of submitting it to the BOT gallery on Forvm. It was pricey but worth it.
This is BOT for sure, fantastic example. No challenge from me either, especially since I haven't been able to find one yet!
Not a Vespasian, but I've got well used Claudius aureus with Pax Nemesis that I use as a hands on example that I can pass around or show to kids in a classroom and not worry about someone dropping it.
@Carthago I would love to hold one of those. I would also love to have one of those. Very nice coin. Alas, I have no aurei.
