I've had a very luck night with the camera tonight photographing my new 1936-S MS67FB Mercury dime. These coins are very hard to Photo because of their size and detail, but these phoot's are just stunning pics of a stunning coin. First - here is the url of the photo's and let me tell you that the original full size photos are clearly worth downloading and viewing.. These photo's are amazing. http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/coins/merc_1936_s/ The funny thing is that I've come to enjoy photographing my coins as much as I have enjoyed collecting them. Now for some photos. These are stepped on twice as jpgs, so fishing for the originals will give you a jaw dropping view of the coin. http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/coins/merc_1936_s/merc36obv.2.jpg And the reverse: http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/coins/merc_1936_s/merc36rev.4.jpg http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/coins/merc_1936_s/dsc02342.jpg http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/coins/merc_1936_s/dsc02347.jpg http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/coins/merc_1936_s/dsc02349.jpg Note the double die on the reverse, probably mechanical doubling. Nearly perfect coins. Anyone want to venture a guess as to its value? Ruben
I really got excited by these photo's when they download to the computer. They're really stunning and considering how much trouble I had last time taking good shots, this was like day and night. Ruben
can you teach me how to take pics like that??? Those are awesome!!! I am gonna go try to take some pics myself, now. Thanks!
You know, these are an automatic Sony digital camera and I've thrown it into manual, but tis not like when I use my Cannon AE-1. There is no light meter reading and you can't quite trust the digital display to produce like the actual photo for some strange reason. so a lot of trial and error is involved. Frankly, this time I got lucky. But it is fun because you can really tell how this dime is a gem in these pics, and you can see the doubling in the E on the reverse etc. It's really just a whole lot of fun and these shots made my heart skip a beat when they pulled up full size on the computer screen. The other thing to remember is that is the coin that came with the scratched up slab, so I want it reslabbed. Ruben PS - Here is my first photo of a coin: http://www.mrbrklyn.com/coins/dsc00006.jpg
I got so many gripes about the yellow in these photos, and I'm wondering if folks missed the point. Ruben
Yup I did, couldn't see the point at all because of the yellow tint in the pics Just razzin ya Ruben - very nice coin :thumb:
See now that makes my day! This was the dime I was sweating so much over for nearly a month. First it was the wrong dime, then I finally got the right dime on a bid, then I finally won the bid, then I couldn't get it because it was being held up, then it finally arrived with a scratched up case etc etc. What Drama with this thing! But it finally pays off. This is why I love to collect, to get great pics, and to show them off on coin talk! To add them to my website! Computers, Coins, Writing, Sharing....making good friends along the way. Its a nice dime...
Actually thinking it over, after what they said about my writing, what tey said about my pictures was kind of mild. Ruben
Really? $600. By that standard I got a bargain. I thought I slightly overpaid for it because I really wanted this example http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/coins/merc_1936_s/dsc02360.jpg http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/coins/merc_1936_s/dsc02349.jpg
