While looking for like coin, notice comments made by others who posted error coin. Not I could not find a like coin maybe someone here might help ID this coin or is it post damage?
What I see is "L" is on rim, I also see a small "I" next to Big I, or is it part of the L?. Also In God We Trust is not the same as the rest of the coin,it looks clearer not as grainy?
What say you Error or Post D ?

Looks like a cleaned, environmentally damaged LMC.

After viewing those for a while, every coin looks like it has an "error" . . . . .

Well, one thing I'm sure of. It's not a penny. The U.S. has never made a penny. Now, it might be a "cent". Sorry, not being mean, it's late and I just couldn't resist, lol.

it's a poor man's saying, like "Hey you got a penny?
    Others say
    Hey you got a Cent?"

Go to the bank and ask the tellers for some Cent rolls. younger folks look at you like you want foreign coinage. I have had to explain myself plenty of times.

Yes it’s a worn 1959-D cent. It’s 1/100th of a dollar but it’s not called a Penny, it’s a called a cent, the word is on the reverse. Not an error of any type.

Penny or Cent??? is funny this, same minning. On the Mint web the wrote penny for the wheat cents and cent for the 1959 to day. Is funny also because all the countries of the world has two or more names for the smaller coins value.

Comment: the Act calls out “cent” but not “penny”. However, the United States Mint uses either term interchangeably. Either is acceptable but purists prefer “cent”.

    I'm fine with either.
