Is into coins. She's the Vice President of the company too. I told her I was going to my LCS tomorrow and she gave me $100 to get her some fun, not expensive, coins. She likes IHC's, Buffalo Nickels. I don't want to get her any Cull Stuff. Any suggestions on coins I can get her with $100? I want to get her an ASE too so that brings it down to about $80 to spend.
Instead of the ASE, how about a Walker? Same front (yes, I know, OBVERSE, lol), but I prefer the Walker reverse. Then you can show her one of your ASE's for comparison and a history lesson.
Well, what does she collect? Primarily US coins, world coins, silver, copper, crowns, etc? Hopefully you asked. An ASE is bullion unless a proof or key date, so I probably wouldn't get her a bullion coin. She either has one already or is more interested in collector coins. I'd get her maybe a fair priced slab, like a ngc/pcgs walking liberty half dollar in low unc for 30-40. Maybe some 5-10 dollar world silver coins that are early to mid 1900s that look appealing, like French francs or 2 francs, German marks, English shillings or 2 shillings, etc. Look for original toning, non cleaned coins but for a fair price, ie next to their bullion value or close. Can't go wrong with world silver coins fairly priced, in my opinion
If you want to stay on good terms with your boss, give her the $100 back and tell her you didn't have any idea what she would like. Chris
A slabbed coin would be great. I know she doesn't have one. What about nice IHCs and Buffalo Nickels?
See if he has any uncompleted booklets or albums that she could continue to expand if the urge strikes her.
I think a Walker is a very fairly priced coin with a beautiful look. If you don't get her that, get her a coin with some significant historic meaning and be prepared to give her the explanation. An 1883 without cents is a great and cheap coin. That one has a fun story with the racketeering piece. You could find her a nice Two Cent coin and explain that it was the first to have "In God We Trust" on it. Not many people even know those exist.
Don't pay too much though for IHCs or nickels, unless your familiar with these. An unc IHC in a slab would be awesome, but prices vary from 40-80 I think. It would be hard to find one closer to 40 but u might find some
Not a bad Idea. If she doesn't already know the grading system. She has something to refer to. I would say its a safe play.
PLEASE remember - ANY kind of working relationship will never work - don't be thinking anything about this - STOP it - and if you think I'm lying then just go for it - let me know when you get fired!!
OH Jesus - run away and quit the stupid crap!!! I think you are too far in cause you ain't smart enough to quit it! OK - if you do get out of this let me know - this should be interesting, but please - don't hit on her!!!
Getting a bit off topic as far as "relationships" are concerned. None of us know the dynamic between the OP and coworkers, so let's just stop speculating and stick to the question at hand.
