I got this on Ebay last week, arrived today and I was more than pleased as the sellers pics pretty much just showed a brown coin but I received a coin with some mint luster and slight toning, - seller created a "best offer" auction so I offered him 6$ W/ FREE shipping and he took it. I had been let down lately on best offers. As many put a best offer in their listing but never respond or refuse a 5 % discount . Here's my latest got it for $125
Gotta love when you make an offer of like 10-15% below and the seller counters with something like 1-2% off their asking price. Why even bother with Make Offer if you're going to do that nonsense??
I've had people send me offers wanting 50 to 70% off. I'll respond usually with a 20-25%. They act like I'm trying to get over on them. I remind them I have fees with a smaller profit margin to consider with their offer. I'm selling for profit not to give to their charity. Not saying e erybody does that but the majority yes.
When you add make an offer to your listing and a customer makes an offer you need to reply. Accept /Decline / Counter offer it's that simple. If you have a customer that continues to make unreal offer just block them. But to use make an offer and never reply is wrong! It to me nothing less than a ploy to get you to pay them full price that in most cases is over book or value of the item. Case in point a 1865 nickel three cent piece the coin did have a nice clash however was vf at best Placed an offer of $40 never got a reply . It was listed at $48 . My offer was at book.
I agree with what you're saying. Every listing I have is a Buy It Now with Best Offer enabled. I get offer's all the time, some are just ludicrously low and piss me off, I decline those nearly immediately. However, sometimes when I get an offer that is near my threshold of a price I had in mind for selling, I'll contemplate the offer and sometimes go nearly up to the 48 hours expiration time. But, I do respond to the offer's. I have on a few occasions received offer's that I was considering and during that consideration period, the item sold for full price. That is one other reason why I will consider offer's over a period of time and not act immediately. I also enjoy the offer/counteroffer portion of eBay, I've had several customers that have enjoyed that.
Well you also can set an auto reject amount say your item is 100. And someone low balls you to 60 you set the limit at any offers below 85 are rejected . That also limits bottom feeders as what you only get 3 offers correct? So at 60 they used one and if they truly want the item they may be smart enough not to play and make an honest offer.
