    no flip = no love

not me... but I think that people are not excited because the opportunity for a quick buck is going to take more work than usual

In order to not run afoul of CT rules regarding naughty language, I'll not post here my opinion of flippers and the whole flipper scene. Obscenity would surely flow.

As for the coin, having stated a mintage of 100,000, they'll probably sell them all after a bit. If they didn't specify ANY mintage number, they'd probably only sell 8,000 or so, and THAT is what's wrong with flippers.

    Flipping hilarious !!

I plan on getting one. It will complete my Standing Liberty Quarter "set" which is not complete, but complete enough for me. The next Walking Liberty gold will close out my Walking Liberty half dollar "set" too.

Nah, I just look at the Recent Topics list and punch whatever floats my boat.

I sincerely hope all the suckers, err BUYERS, yeah, buyers, of the coin tomorrow love their nickel-sized gold "quarter".

I am a proud flipper, and will probably buy a few. Why? I have a guaranteed profit offer. My guess is it will be a tiny profit, but oh well. Now, my prediction: These will not sell out anytime soon, and I can pick up a MS70 in retro green holder for about the same price as I am gonna buy it for tomorrow.

Does anyone know if these will be for sale at the Mint booth in Long Beach this week? I'd like to see one in person before taking the plunge

At least they got a (sorta) Full Head and full rivets.

If I had $500 I'd throw the money at it. I love the design.

The love disappeared when the final Merc product was seen. Until proven otherwise most are just assuming the rest of the series will be of similar quality

I have to say, when I saw the dime - and it's lack of sharpness - I lost interest.

I agree saw one at the coin show two weeks ago . Wasn't impressed , will say I did entertained buying the specimen when I first heard about them. Glad I spent my money on other coins.

The one on your avatar tops anything coming from this whacked out series.

I've said this before, I think the Mint has travelled a poorly thought out path.

/1/ They seem to believe the shaded 'pencil' renderings represent the appearance of the finished coin. Except for a few special cases of proof coinage, they don't.

/2/ The newer, digital processes do not give the same sharpness of design as a plaster model + reduction lathe process. Almost as if the resolution limit of the equipment is just not quite fine enough. I think this has to do more with the tools that the mint has chosen than the basic processes themselves, as other mints and designers don't exhibit the same problem. Perhaps @dcarr can comment?

If they were $100 everybody would be all over it. Since they're $485, most will shy away. It's understandable. I'll be getting one for my collection as soon as they go on sale. Have been looking forward to it. I can accept that the strike isn't flawless.
