My son trying some impressionist art. He says it's a turtle that looks like Daddy. So that's what I would look like if I were a turtle? Edited: A coin to make it legal. L. Thorius Balbus AR denarius
Ya thanks - we try and keep him clean, fed and clothed. He was a bit wiped out after 2 hours at the splash pad and another hour and half at the beach and followed by me scrubbing sand off of him for 45 minutes before walking across the street to the overpriced seafood joint.
Nice photo JA. I live a 15 minutes drive from that very spot. However, I only visit the falls when visitors show up. There are 2 things everyone wants to do, Niagara Falls and winery tours.
Wow, you coin-dudes all look pretty good ... this thread is a winner!! => oh, but "please" don't forget to post a coin with your photos (yah, I just remembered and edited my last post with a coin) cheers
Great photo JA! Though I now live in Florida, I grew up in a little town called Lewiston, about a 15 minute drive from the Falls. Might have been a neighbor of @Orfew!
I am just across the river in Canada, but I have visited Lewiston many times. There was a great burger joint but I cannot remember the name of it. It is a nice little town.
Sitting at a pub in Niagara on the Lake, eating real Canadian bacon (peameal, not what they sell in the US as Canadian bacon) and real Canadian beer (again, not the fake Canadian beer they sell in the US)... brings back great memories!
Ahh yes. One of my favorites is the Angel Inn and another is the Irish pub on King street. I agree, some nice peameal bacon and a pint of Barking Squirrel make great times.
I'll post a picture of my Vespasian Capricorn denarius. It's not the most handsome portrait on an ancient coin in my collection, but it most resembles the way I look now, with the jowls and all, haha. For a picture of me, you need look no farther than my avatar, though that picture is 12 years old now (circa 2004). Just add jowls, more grey hair, a salt-and-pepper mustache, and reading glasses, take away all the upper teeth, and you've essentially got my look nowadays. Awwww.... OK... here. Last October. Me on the right. Some Asheville, NC coin buddies on the left. *sigh* At least I look jolly, right? If you can't stay young and thin, shoot for jolly. PS- for what it's worth (i.e., nothing), I'm also a Capricorn, so the reverse type on that posthumous Vespasian/Titus denarius was a natural choice for me.
Great Thread! I miss all you ancient coin peeps. Here's a photo of me in St Maarten earlier this year. And to keep it real, one of my favorite coins.
I have been a rookie in this forum recently and I am no really a collector of ancient coins, but I somehow feel obliged to join in here. So... Thats me earlier this year at the Felix Romuliana ancient site
View attachment 535471 In keeping with stevex6 couch potato photo, This one rivals that for total RELAXATION going brain dead with my cute, gorgeous granddaughter Emma watching her favorite Wiggles program. In between I do a couple of messages on CT (that's explains why they are a bit average) And the coin Antoninius Pius AE Serstertius (32.2mm, 25.24gm) Altar minted M Aurelius RIC 1272. Oh well, the dogs don't seem to mind the snow, so we're all good!! ... I hope everybody has been staying out of storm's way?! Cheers, coin-friends
