    Almost, Rudrasena, son of Rudrasimha.
I hope you all are not to much deterred by all these strange languages. It is not that hard, and gives much satisfaction. Look at me, i even learned English ;) !

I know its the principality of Samitan, that is the tamgha. The obverse script is Sogdian, a close relative to Farsi. Its all consonants, no vowels. I have never tried to translate the coin, but there are sogdian alphabets out there on the net.

Thank you! I am not going to chase down the inscription.

Rather, I am just gonna believe that since it is from the Silk Road that it says:
"Eat at Rosie's Bar & Grill! And the Beer is Cheap!"

    :D

To add just one Delhi Sultans coin, i chose this one:

Raziya Sultana, Daughter of Iltutmish. Only woman to ever rule the Sultanate of Delhi. Tye#393:

Wasn't she pretty much the only woman to ever rule an Islamic kingdom, anywhere?

There were about a dozen female Islamic rulers in history, so indeed not many.
@dougsmit : Yes, this one was minted in 130SE=208 AD.

This reminds me of people who buy T shirts with foreign (to them) words not knowing what they mean. Dangerous.

Yeah, I know someone who got a tattoo of Chinese characters only to find out later that it translated to "Stinky Pig". Personally I would never get a tattoo in a foreign language without checking separately with two or three native speakers what it meant....let me rephrase that, I would never get a tattoo, period!

Worse than the T shirts are tattoos.

I posted the characters on my cash coin, which Google translate spits out as Chongning treasures, but I know Chong has connotations of worship and Ning is about serenity, so I'm going with "Chill out, you've got the big money, praise Jesus!"

When I was in Japana about 10 yrs ago - I saw many a HS aged kids with shirts written in English with sayings that were jiberish. Like Horse lunch mega flex zoro.

As well I was sitting in a breakfast joint on the bottom floor of a corporate building at 6:30 am while they blasted Big Pun .... "I'm not a playa' , I just "Crush" alot" ! the uncensored version. Strange folks.
