Can someone explain to me what the deal is with the 1970 S mint pennies? I came across this one. What makes them a sought for coin? Is particular one considered a rare valuable coin?

For the 1970 S (Business Strike, or the coins meant for people to spend) Lincoln Memorial Cent, there are a couple big die varieties:

    *Doubled Die Obverse
    *Small Date
    *Repunched Mint Mark (S/S)

For the Proof 1970 S (coins with a mirror like finish, meant for collectors and sold in plastic cases):

    *Small Date

All of these are explained in detail in many places (seemingly five times a day here as well) BUT a good website with good pictures is the Lincoln Cent Resource.

Your is not any of the above varieties. Welcome to the forum :)

Thanks for the tip. I have a quite a few of 1950's and 1960's that fit in some of these criterias.
