Egypt, 5 miliemes from 1917 British Protectorate, Sultan Hussein Kamil,1935, King Fuad I, and 1943, King Farouk. Please note that King Fuad's reverse has the date upside down.
I'm a little confused at why you think the coin's date is upside down? Your photos shows both reverses upside down but the dates are on the side and read right to left so they seem just fine to me.
Uhhh... No it doesn't actually. Sorry, but both your middle and right coin are actually upside down. Take a look at a few number 5s in Arabic and you'll catch on the the flatter part of the curve is the bottom. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...
Errm, what? This is the "relevant portion" in Onofrio's post ... ... and this is what it looks like when you rotate it 180° - makes more sense to me. Christian
I don't quite understand the start of your post, but as you see, once you rotate it 180° and put the center number "5" right side up, you can see that the date says 1935 and 1354. Both are properly written right/correct side up. They are not upside down as the OP had stated.
Brother, I'm not trying to give you a hard time and I know it's easy to read Arabic numerals, but I've lived in Arabic speaking countries for over 2 years and know when a 5 is upside down. You are looking at the middle and right coin upside down. I am telling you that the entire coin is upside down, not just the dates. Look at the photos below and look at the top of the Arabic 5. The flatter, less round part of the five is at the bottom and the more curved part is at the top. They kind of form a triangle when you look at it, like a tire that is going flat.
Another easy tell is the Arabic Alphabet. Look at the words below the Arabic 5. They are upside down as well...
Ah, now it makes more sense to me. Your earlier posts suggested (to me anyway) that, in the second image, the coin in the middle was not upside down. Hence my attempt at showing etc. ... Christian
Ahh, sorry for the confusion. Yes, the reverse of both the middle and right coins are presented upside down in his photo.
I am only able to read the dates and realized that Fuad I's reverse was upside down. Farouk looked to be right side up because the date was easier to read being on the right side of the upside down reverse. Thanks for the clarification.
