I picked up 8 rolls of quarters from bank on way home from work yesterday. My purpose for hunting quarters is to upgrade my 1965+ quarter collection with higher grade coins from circulation. So my instinct is to look carefully at the AU/BUs but search past the well circulated ones quickly. After quickly moving past a few dirtier coins, the question popped into my head "did I just see a 1961 quarter go past my eye? No, it couldn't be, I never find silver quarters. Must have been 1981. But just in case, I'll go back and check it again". Well I did and sure enough it was a 1961-D. First time I've found a silver quarter in circulation since I got back into CRH last Fall. I've probably searched through almost 1000 rolls and I wasn't even looking for silver. So it was a great find.

And it was in a LOOMIS roll so for all those who keep saying LOOMIS removes the silver that does not seem to be the case.

There's never any rhyme or reason to it, I guess. I posted last week my FIRST EVER attempt at roll searching, and came up with 104 kennedy halves @ 40%. Beginners luck!! I only even got the idea to try this by reading this forum. Good luck to everyone!!

I've found silver in LOOMIS rolls of nickels, halves, and dimes so far... I'm sure I'll find some quarters someday.

So today, I had to pick up two boxes of Brinks and two boxes of Loomis halves.

    Results:
    Both Brinks boxes were skunks

Loomis Box 7 (another 6/3 inspection stamped box)
    1-'54 Franklin
    2-'64 Kennedy
    5-'65-68Kennedy
Loomis Box 8 (another 6/3 inspection stamped box)
    2-'64 Kennedy
    7-'65-68 Kennedy

    Total: 5-90s, 12-40s
No Enders on the Loomis boxes this time, rolls that had silver, 50% had two silvers. Could be coming to an end of the silver vein. But will still look until the inspection date changes.
Have another Brinks to pickup tomorrow.

Next week in hopes to continue to get the run of 6/3 Loomis boxes. I have ordered 6 boxes for pick up on Tuesday and 5 when I returns the 12th.

$20.00 in halves that I got from teller at front. Nothing. Went to 4 other banks too and they had nothing loose.

Next week I have 6 boxes coming in. I am bound to hit something. I got .7oz from last Saturday through Tuesday of this week. All 40%ers. In my signature I am putting my ounce count for the month. Hopefully it will motivate me to double my efforts. I really want 15oz this month. My trip to Texas should help that.

Rarely, if you read through the stream over the past two weeks I have hit a run of silver halves in a particular set of loomis boxes, all dated with an inspection stamp of June 3, 2016. This week I searched through eight loomis boxes, last week four, and the week before four. So far sixteen boxes with that inspection date, next week I have ordered 11 boxes, so I will see if the run continues or if I run through all those box dates.

Two theories, one someone dumped grandpas collection, or a new thought occurd to me. What if someone at Loomis(employee) was pre-sorting for silver? Not sure that is allowed, I know they do not sort by machine by weight, like a coinstar, and they are no longer employed there? Possible answer to why silver almost dried completely from Loomis boxes, maybe they are working at Brinks now! Or maybe they were on vacation the week of June 3.

Next eleven boxes should be a good indicator.

Truble, I think I got two of your boxes. Two boxes halves: 2-90%( 1963D Ben, 1964 Kennedy), 35-40% Kennedys, three proofs (2-92S, 2002S), one Republican De Panama 1975 Medio Balboa (1/2Balboa). Five enders. Two nice boxes!

Picking up 2 boxes tomorrow. Those 40%ers last week were nice, but hoping for some 90%.

For me it's literally never. After 60 or so boxes I got around 15-20 40%ers and two 90%ers. Only one was meant for circulation.
