1946-S Inverted Mint Mark?

I found a 1946-S penny that looks to be an inverted mint mark, but the S seems suspiciously thick compared to other photos online; can anyone confirm whether this is a.) the Ball Serif mint-mark style and b.) is it actually inverted?

    Thanks for your help!

Looks like the trumpet tail mint mark. The mint mark has been damaged by contact. That's why it's flattened out.

The lower half of the S looks like it's been hit with a hammer.
