If there is already a thread about this, point me to it. Today in the mail, I received a revised package for the 2023 Silver Proof Set from the Mint in a bubble mailer. Other than the change in Bessie Coleman's photo, I can't see why this was sent. Anyone else get this, too? In the photo the upper one is the original packaging, the lower one is the packaging I got in the mail today.
Is it possible the mint discovered the first picture is not actually of Bessie Coleman? That might explain why they would go to that trouble and expense to correct an embarrassing mistake. Not that either of them is worth much, but the uncorrected package may someday have more value than the coins.
I believe the lower picture compliments her being the first black female aviator to be licensed. Much more appropriate to her life and accomplishments. You are very fortunate to have both, congrats.
I also received the same letter and revised packaging in the mail today. I think the pictures are 2 completely different women.
