I seem to have made a serious error.
I listed the following proof sets as silver:
    1976
    1978
    1979
    1980
    1981
    1983
    1985
I've been advised that in fact they are clad coins.
I've looked in the Red Book, Coin World Trends, and the Greysheet, but can find no definitive statement of their composition.

    So, two question:
    1. For my immediate concerns, are they silver or clad? (I'm not talking Prestige Sets.)
    2. For the future, where can I find a definitive statement about proof set composition by year? (Website preferred, but publication okay.)

Don't you have the box or the COA from the mint. They would tell you.

To the best of my knowledge, proof sets are the same composition as the coin of that year's mintage unless otherwise specified.

The first prestige set was 1982 and most of these contain some silver coins. Some 1976 sets are silver.

The others are all clad, cu/ ni, and either cu or zinc.

    Thanks, all.
I suspect at one time I knew that, but age has obviously taken a toll on my memory.
