Would not surprise me. At least they would have given it an honest try.

The coins were pretty nice, as noted earlier I disagreed wit the 06-W Unc grade. The others could be right on. BTW I gave them the original packaging as well. I told them if they did not agree with the grade that they could crack them out and put them back in the original packaging. I told them that SGS is not a true grading company but even the raw sets had gone up over $450 since issue last October.

I don't have any SGS graded coins, but I do have an ACG Mercury Dime. Does that count? :rolling:

I wasn't really bidding on the ACG dime. I was bidding on a MS-67 1951-S graded by PCGS. The ACG dime was just 'thrown in' with it in the auction. Guess the seller couldn't unload it any other way. It's not too bad a specimen except for the three 'jewelry mounting' cuts in the reverse rim:eek:

Please release those poor babies from their unjustified prison.
Or just melt them. They must feel such shame being in there.

Thats definately not an MS66. If these so-called grading services are going to continue to make a mockery of the hobby by providing shabby services, they need to at least make-up their own grading scale. They're not fooling anyone and it's becoming increasingly annoying.

I dont own any SGS coins. I've never had the urge to buy them. The main reason I'd buy a coin in a slab anyway is strictly for authentication and not for just assigning a grade. The only ones I buy in slabs are rare coins that have a high risk of being counterfeited. Other slabs that I own have been given to me as gifts and are from either NGC or PCGS.

It counts as long as you don't say ANYTHING negative about ACG. That can get you in trouble.

For instance, I was at a small show a few years ago and a few sellers (brothers) had an ACG Franklin Half that I'm sure they paid very little for.
I don't remember the exact grade or date but DID notice that it was 3/4 Full Bell Lines. What in the hell is that? It's either FBL or not!

Other dealers, myself and the two brothers all got a good laugh out of that one. Why? - because we were positive that it was one of the silliest things we'd ever seen on a slab.

See, that makes this a positive statement.

Good boy clembo - now you get a treat.

Are you sure that you meant NNC?
Perhaps NTC, they are okay, but NNC?

I did have one for a very short time, but I sold it almost as soon as I had bought it when I realised it was cleaned. I got the same amount for it that I had paid off ebay for it.

Nope. NNC. BTW I believe NTC is an honest tpg, but 90% of the time they WWAAYY overgrade. I' wouldn't doubt that NNC is owned by centsles.

The only reason I would buy an SGS coin is if I desperately needed a 2006 reverse proof coin.
