I've seen this design before, a few years ago. I think it was a silver round done by Modern Metals. Looks just like a regular round to me, but I don't expect much from the Mint these days.......they be running out of ideas.

People paying these prices are nuts. I feel sorry for the collector that couldn't get in because the flippers were jamming the website and buying most of them. If they didn't want one for their collection they shouldn't have bought any.

    OUCH.............. s-l1600.jpg

Are these going to be release each year, or is this a one-time thing?

Just thinking, only 12,500 made at each mint... a lot less than even the 1995-W silver eagles. Should be interesting to see what happens to prices on these in the future.

I absolutely hate this line of thinking. A total sour grapes mentality. Its a free market plain and simple... And I'm not a flipper. Don't think I've ever sold anything I've bought from the mint yet.

Do not compare silver medal with silver coin attached with denomination. Silver medal is less collected by collectors. But mintage of only 12,500. I see the price could rise substantially, but can not pass the 1995w silver eagle.

But these are attached to the gold coin so I say they are a hybrid of sorts in terms of collectibility

Why didn't they just give them a FV of $1 like a silver eagle?

    LOL!

I know quite a few people who would be happy to sell you a set of four for the bargain price of just $1,000. Heck, I'd buy a few on eBay for $600 and sell them to you myself.

To put it another way, "I believe yours is a minority opinion at present". ;)

Has anyone noticed the pricing fluctuating up or down since yesterday?

Unlikely, not impossible though but at some point people would just get the gold instead.

And more importantly they have a fantastic design and are one of the best things to come out of the mint in a long time

Should have offered them here (at $125-150 or so for the pair), so a fellow coin collector could get them.

Then it would be a coin.

Yep. Funny thing -- when they only sell 25000 total, it doesn't take them so long to get them all sent on their way. :)

The more I look at this, in my eye it looks really basic. Almost like a generic silver round design made by some small company. Just doesn't do it for me. Congrats to all those that wanted them, and had no trouble ordering! Sorry to those that didnt. Mazel tov!

Can someone explain Mintage Limit: None? Does that mean we'll see this medals again?
