I’m trying to figure out what caused the mark on the right side of the eagle’s neck. Any thoughts on what the clash could be?

I think it is not caused by a die clash. Most likely die damage from a foreign object.

Hmm, that’s a good point. Could just be die damage. I wasn’t able to place the shape with anything conclusive on the obverse.

    Possibly a feeder finger scrape?

I think it is a clash. There is another small line by the eagles left claw and by the tip of the eagles left wing tip.

PS. The design of the coin is fairly complete, meaning it’s not minted by a worn die. Is it possible that when the obverse and reverse dies were being installed one of them was loose or installed on an angle?

Or misaligned clash? Seems like the two have a similar appearance.
