Is it my imagination, or have coin prices in general, and moderns in particular skyrocketed in price over the past few years? I frequently find myself passing up purchases lately because the prices just don't make any sense.
It isn't your imagination, and supplies of better stuff, key & semi-key dates have just about evaporated.
the price is up due to the large influx of new collectors who want very choice coins. the market will slow down on some coins but continue to gain for others. Canadian coins are a prime example - look what happened to the silver and gold 1999 and 2000 dollars. those coins came right out of the case after a review of the price trend - $150 or so drop - ouch. they will go back in the closet only to surface once the price is back up. -steve
