Plating error?

Would this be considered a plating error? Under the letter "N" it looks like you could peel it up.

It looks like a stain to me. Try soaking it in a little acetone. It should dissolve.

 

Since no one has replied, I'll take a stab. You have the coin. If you see the surface peeled up, you can call it that. However, in the photo, it looks like normal corrosion to me.

 

Thanks guys. It does look like you could pick it in one area. (Could just be dirt I guess) I'll try the acetone and see what happens.
