I was curious, does anyone on cointalk participate in the grading challenge game at Mycollect? For those unfamiliar, Mycollect is a coin site founded by Ian the owner of Great Collections. It is kind of like have a non stop GTG thread. So far I have learned that grading Morgan and Peace dollars is like riding a bike. Haven't bought one in 30 years but score fairly high on those. I have had tremendous luck with gold coins, which puzzles me, since I have seen like 2 real gold coins in my life. I am most shocked to get so many Uncirculated Seated coins wrong. I have collected circulated Seated material for over 25 years so thought I had a good grasp on where to look for wear. Last of all are the comem coins. I don't think I have scored a single point grading those. James P.S. Good luck if you decide to test yourself.
I've never heard of that site before, but I will certainly check it out. I am a big fan of Great Collections.
I was not aware of this site. Thank you for posting! I signed up and even got my preferred username! I got 20 points on the first buffalo that popped up for me, but I've sucked wind on the others for the most part! I really suck at Roosevelt dimes.
Oh I'm giving this a try for sure! This is essentially how I passed my Ham Radio license tests, I studied and took practice tests over and over.
I waste my time with all kinds of things, many are completely worthless and sometimes destructive. LOL So far my "specialty" seems to be lincolns, I've nailed most of them or been real close. Not bad on morgans so far either.
Yes. It's fun and it is quite addictive. I find myself yelling at my screen once in a while. Some coins are easy and some are quite challenging. I'm telling myself I have other things to do tonight, so perhaps I'll leave it alone for a while.
It's very fun! I found out I can't grade Morgan's to save my life and I over grade gold. Ready way to spend a few idle minutes.....lol
