Has anyone seen anything like this? Found in 1958 proof set.

Please notice the "8" in the date, there's something inside the upper loop that protrudes out left side??

Also the "5" has a shelf on the right side.

    Any input would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Looks like a coin struck with worn dies to me. It's nothing unusual really, back then the mint didn't really care all that much about the quality of their Proof coins. They would continue using the dies long after they should have been retired. It wasn't until 1973 that they changed their policy regarding this.

Very minor thing but fun to look at.

Also, FranklinLovers.com has all the double dies and major varieties listed, you might check it out and see which one you have.

I'd say it's a die chip. The die looks pretty fresh as there still appears to be some cameo contrast, which isn't common for 1958.
