http://coins.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Inventory_No=184460002#Photo The price is pretty high but it is really pretty for the grade. Is that one worth pulling the trigger on?
I wouldnt i recently bought some mercury dimre graded by pcgs ms 66 for 50 bucks so unless you care about the year so much i would not pull anything
Auction Histories BTW - I spent a bit more for an MS67 FB 1936S Merc. It never occured to me to look at Proofs and expect them to be less expensive. Checked teletrade and $400 is closer to the price of a 67 than a 66. Could be a sleeper. IMHO the Mercury Dimes and the Peace Dollars have the greatest up potential of US coins.
I see no problem with that coin other than a strong price. I like, particularly, that the coin has a full return privilege, so that once you get the coin in-hand if you don't like it, you can always send it back. :thumb: It looks fairly graded, but once I had it in-hand I would be concerned with hairlines and light obverse milk spots. If you like the coin and don't have a problem with the premium it is selling for, I say go for it!!! :high5: [edited to say: I will never learn to spell]
I wouldn't say its a bargain, but I personally don't think the price is too bad. Bid on a PR 65 is $320.00. It looks like a lot of coin for the money from the pics, but with Proofs, pics will often hide hairlines. To me, it looks like a sharp coin that is spot free.
Frankly, I think that judging a 65 from a 66 from a Heritage photo is practically impossible, much less a high end 66 from a regular 66. In-hand that's a fine enough line that would be likely debated by most who see the coin. From a single Heritage photo -- I'm skeptical and I strongly caution you from relying too much on Heritage's oddly lit photographs. In the end the only two things that matter are the price and how YOU feel about the coin after you see it in-hand. EVERYTHING ELSE IS FLUFF -- and if presented by the seller a clear conflict of interest is present. I cannot stress the preceeding two sentences enough. Humbly and respectfully submitted...Mike p.s. the coin has a "make an offer", so if you're inerested, I'll bet they will accept less than $400. Just be sure and confirm your return priviledge. Good luck, and please let us know how it turns out.
