Welcome to El Cheapo's new thread! I'm bored, and I've been filling my dansco 7070 type set book with cheap coins. So let's go!

    The Rules:
    1
. They have to be CHEAP! Not greysheet. I'm talking DIRT CHEAP.
    2. They have to be "MEATY." Doesn't matter if they are problem coins, but they better have a lot of detail for the price.
    3. This is a like-fest. So no trashing anyone else's El Cheapo coins. (One man's junk is another man's treasure)!

My first... 1856 Seated Quarter with VF+ detail for $13! (Seller's pics, not mine).

I have an 1808 half I picked up for $20 years ago when I was young(er) collector. It has a hole and some damage but it still has some solid detail. Sorry, don't have a photo.

This one was $5 at the ANA in a dealer's junk silver pile.

I have some nice foreign junk bin finds, but I'm in Bend right now. When I get back to Portland I'll post them.

I don't know if this qualifies for the 'El Cheap Thread', but they were not expensive.
If I remember correctly I paid about 40 euros (about $ 45) for all of these 5 coins at a local show last year, including 11 euros for the 1894 nickel (about $ 12). IMG_1130.jpg IMG_1125_opt-2.jpg IMG_1164_opt-2.jpg IMG_1175_opt-2.jpg

I don't have a pic anymore but years ago I picked up a 1810/11 Bust half for $20.00 and almost instantly re-sold for $80.00 and it had several rim digs. Dealers junk box but I'm sure he did not realize it was an variety.

Well, these two are cheapos for ancient and medieval silver

I got this one for something like $45 including auction fees and shipping. Not a week earlier I almost bought another Philip I Aequitas just like this one for $75 (full retail is around $75-$80). Glad I didn't and saved myself $30-$35.

    Philip I Antoninianus (244-249 AD)
    Roman Empire

This next one was basically a gift...$40.25 with auction fees and shipping. I've seen them go at big auction sites for $75-$100 all day long. I got it from a smaller auction site at a steal for Islamic medieval silver.

    Ex Elwood Rafn collection.

TO RECAP: 1,750+ year old silver and 1,200 year old silver for a grand total of $85.25. :wideyed::eek:

    Two entries:

    (1) Toned Austrian 5 Euro cent coin for 50 cents:
[it might be AT....this is how it looked when I found it in the foreign junk bin]

    (2) 1943 Silver War Nickel in a Segs holder (it was part of a $6 coin lot; so I counted the cost as about $3)
