I am slowly compiling a complete PCGS graded set from 1973, my birth year. I have a few pennies through halves, but for now I'm concentrating on the $1 coins. So far I have these Ikes: 1973-D MS64 (clad) 1973 MS64 (clad) 1973-S PR69DCAM (clad) 1973-S PR69DCAM (silver) 1973-S MS66 (silver) Am I missing any? The red book doesn't mention any others, but it doesn't mention all coins that are minted (like the 2014 reverse proof Kennedy half.)
Your avatar, we're almost neighbors. 51 is 51/64 here. They call it the B.A expressway. I just had to put that out there
Good project. I recently put together a slabbed 1954 proof set for my birth year. If we don't do it, who is? Think yours is just a wee bit more complicated than mine was.
I used to work at the EZ Mart at 31st and 209th in "BA" (It has a Broken Arrow address but is closer to Catoosa) and found all sorts of interesting coins. I found Indian head pennies, steel pennies, thousands of wheats, a V nickel, several buffalo and war nickels, dozens of silver Roosevelt dimes, several silver quarters including a 40% bicentennial, four Franklin halves, several 40% halves, Ikes, an impaired proof SBA, a wide rim SBA, and numerous foreign coins, the most impressive probably an 1861 British half penny. Here's a thread where I reported what I found every day when I worked there: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/bugos-finds-of-the-day.228872/
Thats pretty cool. Im not a public player. Work In some crappy building by the airport building Gulfstreems. No money handleing just aircraft metals & a big ol drill motor, lol.
I think I have the complete set of 1973 $1 coins, all PCGS-slabbed and in at least MS 64 condition. Now for the rest of the set. From what I've been able to gather, 1¢, 5¢, 10¢, 25¢, and 50¢ coins all come in business strikes with no mintmark or a D mintmark, and proofs with an S mintmark. Are there any other 1973 coins I'm missing?
