I just won this Large Cent and am excited. Can anyone tell me why? O1.jpg O2.jpg R1.jpg
I'll post my reason in about three days unless someone discovers and posts the reason I'm excited.

Hmmm, two people fought over it. The story must be interesting.

Not a large cent expert, but a quick Google search reveals a few edge varieties, a variety in the bust design (I'm sure there were TONS of varieties in these) or maybe you're just excited about having a cent from the 1700's?

FYI, I've been collecting for 50 years and collecting Large Cents for 40 of those. Mostly the Early dates.

I don't have my books here but my guess is you think it is a Jefferson Head.

EDIT: :sorry: It is not. So I'm out of the game until Monday at the office.

    Is it a 1793?
    Is it a rare variety?

I guess it has to do with the obverse. And judging by the lower hair curl it could be a 1794 Jefferson head plain edge?

The coin is in transit and the photos did not include the edge. I know what I expect to find upon examination, but it has nothing to do with my excitement. Though not finding what I expect could be either disappointing or REALLY EXCITING.

Pardon me. I just noticed an edge is visible in one of the obverse photos and I can confirm it shows what I expected to find as far as I can see.

While we're waiting, this is the other coin I recently won and just received.

Yes, I stopped bidding due to the amount of damage. That lowest lock of hair in the shape of an S has me interested. I will start looking later.
