Continuation from earlier. I'm particularly happy about the walking liberties, and I missed the last flying eagle so I grabbed this one for now.

I think that's the first 1859 Flying Eagle I've seen! Which doesn't mean a lot. There are lots of things I haven't seen!

 

And probably things that you don't want to see either.

 

Here's one that's hard to see even with it right in front of you!

 

If you only have one this is a good one to have. Looks very nice.

 

One thing I was surprised about when I got my first flying eagle was how THICK the planchet was. I was thinking it would be like an Indian head cent.

Copper nickel IHC the same thickness. They reduced when they went to bronze in 1864

 

Aaah, it was a CuNi one. I guess I've never had a CuNi Indian.
