What did people say they thought the grades were?? I'm not very good at grading personally, but I'd say that Morgan is worth around 50 bucks.

i think the general consensus was AU-55, or so. (for the Morgan)

If thats the case, it might be slightly less than $50. Not sure about the Peace, it looks alot more worn than the morgan.

They seem to (possibly) be whizzed.

Around $12 for the harshly cleaned Peace, and $15 or so for the common date au Morgan.

BTW, I have a bunch of au Morgans I would gladly sell for $50 each......:p

I agree that they are both whizzed. The Peace Dollar is worth about $12 and the Morgan is worth $15-18.

whizzed! is that a fancy word for cleaned?

I will get a better picture of both
because in person, they do not appear to be cleaned.

whizzed is a term for a kind of cleaning where a layer of the surface is removed to 'improve' the appearance.

    ohhh, hmm.

Well, i could always submit them to a grading company

With all due respect, Magman, I wouldn't waste my money on getting them graded.
The Morgan is worth $35 (at best) and the Peace is only worth about $12.
That Peace dollar has been cleaned VERY harshly.
Look at the lines that run diagonal from top left to bottom right, on the obverse.
    Pretty rough...
    :(

I hope you didn't pay a lot for them.
You can find better examples out there, for not a lot of money.
    Good luck, friend.
    :)

    Hello, thanks for the reply.
I wouldnt get them graded by themselves. One of my friends sends in coins often, so I figured I could jump in with him on that.
But yeah, the Peace does looked cleaned - the morgan on the other hand, not so much. It looks like its been cleaned at a certain angle.

Anyways, i got them as a gift a while ago, which is why I was wondering their worth.
Luckily i have a few more peace dollars, also from 1922, no mint mark, and no scratches.
and I have 1 other morgan, but from 1921.

I personally don't see a point in grading either, not even if someone else is and you're jumping in on it. I would say $15 for the Morgan, $18 if you're lucky (I don't see how it would go for anything close to $35). They aren't bad coins, just nothing one would grade, and nothing worth over $15. Still nice to have. With ones like these, I like to keep them in a bag and take them out to hold and show others and let them hold it. Some of my favorite coins are these as you can get "closer to them" than the more expensive ones I have behind slabs, etc.
