I am not an ancient guy on any level. But saw this for what seemed like a decent price (even though I have ZERO clue what it is actually worth). I could post in the under $50 thread. I know absolutely nothing about it. But I thought it was pretty cool that it is EASILY the oldest man-made object I own.
Grabbed these from one of my local shops this morning. Neither are show stoppers, but at $120 all in I’m very pleased!
Are you alanski on Instagram? That nickel looks very familiar, I think I saw it posted on IG recently.
Fresh off the auction block. I was going to post this in the UCGS grading service thread but since it's locked, I'll post this here. I researched as much I could, then laid in the weeds until 7 seconds were left and posted my max bid of $150, when the leading bid was $45. So you can see by the holder I took a flyer here. Yet I can see nothing wrong with the coin. It hammered for $135, and I got it! Sellers pictures. I figure worst case and a grade of 64 and I break even. Thoughts? (other than me being a sniper). Last week I let an ungraded gem 1921 Morgan with a monster VAM slither out the door, I bid really high this time. I'm still mad about that one.
I bought my first modern gold coin. Keeping with the theme of "budget" friendly Type coins, I went with the 1/10 ounce. Slab is dirty in these pics, I will clean it up once it arrives. I liked the "toned" gold look. Not sure I like the flashy Gold label, sort of distracts from the coin IMHO. I'll wait to make the final judgement when I can see it in hand.
I am working on proof coins from 1955-1964 in graded status, as I already have them in their original packaging. My goal is to have each of these graded in PF68, keeping out of the top population insanity and yet having real and appealing coins. Here is one of them:
