Hello all! I have another unusual thread. Like most of us here, we store our Coin photos in a special computer file/s. Well, the other day I noticed a coin that I don't recognize. I did an initial search through my collection but didn't find it. Maybe I'll do a more thorough search tomorrow.
Question? Do you have a coin that you have a Pic for but can't find the actual coin? Is it worth pursuing for a Lincoln error such as this? Now! Where the heck did it go? Did Aliens take it? Bigfoot of the Abominable Snowman perhaps?

Here's is the coin in question:

Oh, I have more than I'd care to admit, I'm prone to losing things but in the early days of my collecting, I had scarcely a box or shelf set aside for coins. I'd lose them all the time. I have a Standing Liberty quarter and Seated dime that I lost, please excuse the photos: 1856 Seated Dime Obv.jpg 1856 Seated Dime Rev.jpg

I was maybe 14 when I took these photos, under a magnifying glass with lights. Terrible procedure I know, but that's what I did at that age before I wised up. I should probably find them over the summer and get real photos of them, maybe sell them since I don't collect US coins much anymore and these are the only coins of these types that I have. If I end up selling my US coins I'll probably keep my cents and Mercury dimes and liquidate most else. Edited for readability.

I have a large stash, I find coins that can't be deleted, it will pop up in the feed and I have to say that's not mine.
I can't find this one. I have been wanting better photos.

I remember putting this one somewhere safe. It's been missing for several years now.

At a place and time long ago and far away, when I was a young-teen, I put a roll of steel cents somewhere, never did find it.

I would truly be upset if I misplaced such a nice specimen as that 1964-D lamination.

I have photos of coins I no longer own. I don't like posting them but do on occasion,
and usually with a disclaimer saying so. I don't recall misplacing any coins that later could not be found. Seems I do not remember anything that I have forgotten. :joyful:

Funny you should post a thread about this. Just a couple of weeks ago I was going thru my Master List of coins. Came upon a Standing Liberty Quarter that didn't have a location listed. Searched high and low, but no can find.

Get this…. I had a knee replacement shortly after the Apollo commemoratives came out and I had bought one of the gold commems….. Fresh out of surgery, I spent a week in my EZ chair high on opiates surrounded by my coins. The gold Apollo commem was new and was always close by…. That was four years ago. I haven’t seen it since…. Lesson? Coins and opiates don’t mix.

an old coin buddy of mine had this 1917 10-12 years ago that has many of the same characteristics as yours. The almost have to be from the same alloy mixture.

Back in 2012 or 2013, I bought a pair of gold dollars. Both were ex-jewelry and impaired, but the price was right (barely above melt).

I've examined each one repeatedly since then, but it's been years since I've seen them both at the same time. For nearly that whole time, I've known where one is, but been unsure about the other one. The thing is, they seem to alternate.
