Sorry, but your pictures aren't really the best. Better pictures and people may change their opinion. And if you read between the lines, you'll remark that many here post sarcastic comments ;-)
No never said I'm an expert. I said there's a lot of people here who think they are. As far as the term numismatist anyone who collects coins can be considered one. What matters is does that person have the education to back up his claim . That could be from an accredited school or years of hands on experience . I believe if you search Lehigh 96 name here at CT you'll see he has a collection of Jefferson nickels second to none! Truthfully not one time have I read any post from him either stating he's an expert. But I bet the house on him!!
Agree - without coin in hand its difficult. Lamination or a toning streak ... bit IMO both are due to improper alloy mixing. Sometimes surface contamination comes into play like the Peace Dollar I submitted to M. Diamond in CW last year. JPL
I also have a question about this. I have a no mint mark with a dark coloring to it, when looked under the loop you can definitely see the pinkish hugh also. But I am noticing what looks like a quarter reverse struck when I am angling the coin under there loop, if that makes since. It does have the silver sound to it but I am trying to figure out the striking error, if known, with a quarter or vs versa. And the discoloration. I will post a pic next. Thank you!
