Howdy Folks! Please take a look and render your valuable opinions. I can see 2 eyes, 2 curls (on cheek), 2 ear lobes, and doubling of hairs in between the 2 curls! What do you all reckon? Can this perhaps be considered a Class IV Doubled Die? Thank you very much!
my personal opinion? Double struck with less pressure. If a DDO, then there would be more 'doubling' of the legend etc. No way they could have polished off the details of a DDO without removing more of the details of the original die, therefore there would be far less detail in the hair etc
Have you looked up the die making process for the coin in question? I haven't had the time or I would have already tried to figure the process. It's a neat coin for a variety collector.
The separation between the pair of eyes, pair of curls, and pair of lobes seems to be evenly distributed. This is very weird, that's all I know. Did you spot this, yourself? I suppose so, if it's graded. Is it graded?
