Well, I started in 1948 what I have here was completed about 10 years ago. Some I got in change, some I traded for, some I got in auctions and pawn shops. When I was young the silver dollars were still available at the local banks. One dollar for one dollar. So, I guess it took 50 plus years. One piece at a time. I am still missing 3 Morgan and 5 Barber Half Dollars.
This was a nice group of postings. Thanks for sharing. I'm 14 coins away on my Morgans and 2 away on Peace dollars (21 and 28) but I only have 1 Barber half in my book. My New Years resolution is to fill those Peace dollar holes and complete it. My short set Walkers are done, and all Mint State but my full Walker set is about a half dozen short too.
You have a nice start, almost done. Here is my Capital sets put together in the 70's and early 80's. Been collecting since 1957 and got a lot of these for a dollar or 2.
@Hambone1946 It is hard to believe that they were available at the banks and you could trade 2 or 3 for a more difficult date. We had a network of young collectors that held "swap meets" on a regular basis. Very nice collection you have there.
Very nice collection. Wished I lived in a time where you could get silver coins from the bank or in circulation on a regular basis. Now I'm lucky just to find a wheat cent.
I am so very impressed with these sets well done guys... My Morgan set just passed the 1/2 way point and still not a single CC.. but soon I hope.. Most can be seen here an ICG and 2 ANACs not there... https://www.ngccoin.com/registry/competitive-sets/414414/
