Hello everyone.....closer look at 1945 wheat cent found the "B" in liberty filled in. Is this common to find? 160809_115012.jpg IMG_20160809_130420.jpg 160809_130218.jpg

Could be 1 of 2 things. A Die Chip in the letter B.. Or it took a hit so to give it a mashed filled in look.
It is common for this to occur on Cents from the 40s 50s and 60s. I have a few in my collection where the Letters or Numerals are filled in mostly due to Die Chips.

If it is a die chip, it was caused because the metal post on the die which forms the center of the loop broke off.

I have a 1957 D Lincoln cent with the B filled in, more noticeably than yours. I am sorry I can't figure out how to post images. It was obtained in a group of miscellaneous wheat cents years ago.
